I will sit still when told to.

I found this piece of paper on the sidewalk yesterday. On one side, it says "I will sit still when told to." twenty times, then "I will sit still when to" on the last line. Only the first two lines are numbered. What makes someone start to count and give up after only two? Maybe the specter of tedium was too horrible to face so frankly. On the other side, the author has discovered the efficiency of the assembly line. Here we find a single example of subservience at the top, and the beginnings of it being copied down the page one letter at a time. Each line sports "I wi" and a few boast a third letter. With this page lost, will the task need to be started from scratch?
